Full Title: Higher Arithmetic Designed for the Use of High Schools, Academies, and Colleges; in Which Some Entirely New Principles are Developed, and Many Concise and Easy Rules Given, Which Have Never Before Appeared in Any Arithmetic: With an Appendix

7 ½ x 4 ¾. In English. Published by Hartford by H.H. Hawley & Co., Utica [New York], 1849. Early Edition. Complete. Mid-19th century sprinkled calf, flat spine divided into panels by single gilt rule. Front cover with some mild wear. Black label with bright gilt title, “Perkin’s Higher Arithmetic.” Corners ever so slightly bumped. Front joint starting, but still solid. Pastedowns free from ownership markings or foxing, but with some minor offsetting from binder’s glue used for turn-ins. Front end paper with a penned named. Text mostly crisp and clean, though there may be the occasional page with some imperfections such as occasional foxing, a slight stain, tiny tear, or other minor quirk that comes with a book this age. Early editions are NOT COMMONLY FOUND in the marketplace.

George R. Perkins was a Principal and Professor of Mathematics of the Normal School of the State of New York. He also authored “Elementary Arithmetic,” “Elementary Algebra,” “Treatise on Algebra,” and “Elements of Geometry,” among others.
