Description
The Case for Vaccination (1902)
by Edward Brown
8 ½ x 5 ½. In English. Published by Baillière, Tindall & Cox, London, 1902. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 44 pp. with tables. Verified complete via WorldCat. Publisher's maroon cloth with black title on spine and front cover in very good+ condition. Light sunning to spine. Presentation (without signature) from the author on the front endpaper, 'with the author's compliments’ inscribed with pencil. Slight browning to endpapers; otherwise, tight, clean text block, stiff boards, and secure binding. An overall nice, collectible copy. Rare in commerce.
This short book was mainly intended for the public. Brown, keeping it short, provided reasons to induce the medical community to uphold the practice of vaccination. He makes no claim to originality, which, indeed, is out of place in such a book. In the end, it is simply a collection of facts, compiled in a convenient, layman form to support his advocacy – and could not be more relevant today.
