François Paul Émile de Bonnechose (1801 – 1875) was a French poet and historian. He was a student at the newly formed Cavalry School of Saint-Cyr in 1818. After becoming a general staff officer, he resigned at the rank of Lieutenant to devote himself to writing literature. He attracted the attention of King Louis-Philippe I, who appointed him Librarian of the Palace of Saint Cloud. de Bonnechose went on to become Librarian of the Palace of Versailles.
