Hardcover. Harcourt, Brace and Company, New York, 1950. Stated FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, preceding the British edition by a week. Publisher's blue cloth in very good+ condition. Tight, clean pages, stiff boards, and secure binding. Trivial wear. Original, but clipped jacket shows significant age toning along spine and top edges, with some chipping to the head and tail as well as the top front and rear corners. No ownership markings. Clean text block. An overall nice collectible copy. Preserved in a mylar dust jacket cover.

Adeline Virginia Woolf was an English writer, considered one of the most important modernist 20th-century authors and also a pioneer in the use of stream of consciousness as a narrative device. Here is a posthumous collection of 26 essays and sketches, which includes pieces on Goldsmith, Crabbe, Ruskin, Turgenev, Hardy, and Conrad, as well as writings on literary topics.
