Charles Rollin (1661 - 1741) was a French historian and educator, whose popularity in his time combined with becoming forgotten by later generations makes him an epithet, applied to historians such as Jean Charles Leonard de Sismondi. Rollin's "Traite des Etudes" explains his method of teaching and studying belles-lettres. An important work in the history of teaching/education which contains ideas that were new and revolutionary at the time.
