Scattered foxing and browning, but generally quite clean internally. With a frontis of Morhof. Volume one of a three volume set. See our other listing for Volumes 2 and 3 (bound in one book). In very good overall condition. New to our inventory. Detailed condition report coming soon.

Written at a time when most of the best scholars were generalists, who just specialized in learning all there was to know about their world. Morhof attempted to classify and describe the world's philosophy in three volumes and assembled in one place the ideal scholar's library of the late 17th century. A foundational work in both enlightenment studies and the history of ideas. This volume has some fascinating chapter headings including "DE LIBRIS MYSTICUS ET SECRETIS", "DE LIBRIS PHYSICIS SECRETORIABUS", "DE COLLEGIIS SECRETIS", and "DE MEMORIAE SUBSIDIIS."
