Illustrated throughout with portraits and scenes, including many full page plates. 280 pp plus publisher's advertisements. Tan illustrated cloth covers stamped in black, gray, cream, red, and white with silver titling and a picture of a colonial man walking past a brick house. Ex-library, but showing no serious wear. A very good copy of a scare title. The text fresh and the binding sound. Not commonly seen in the marketplace. (The image of the author we included on our website is NOT in the book.)

The "poor boys" who made good include George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln, Buffalo Bill, Thomas 'Wizard' Edison, 'Commodore' Vanderbilt, 'Stonewall' Jackson, Eli Whitney, Stephen Girard, Peter Cooper and many others. John Habberton (1842–1921) was an American author. He spent nearly twenty years as the literary and drama critic for the ‘New York Herald.’
